Vincent Rumahloine is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, facilitator and curator based in Indonesia. Vincent holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Bandung Institute of Technology. His artistic practice revolves around subjects such as displacement, human rights, environment, collective memories, and reimagining historical narratives. Vincent’s work serves as a bridge, effectively closing societal gaps by infusing a touch of the uncanny and utilizing artistic strategies to engage with the lives and experiences of those who may not typically be immersed in the art world.
His projects include “Don’t Call Me Hero”, which tells the compelling story of an Indonesian exile in Prague, who lost his citizenship following the 1965 tragedy in Indonesia; "Moving Museum", which uncovers untold stories and objects from local communities; “Sedekah Benih” a pandemic interdisciplinary project about traditional ecological knowledge, art and community. Vincent’s works have been showcased in various Biennales, National Gallery of Indonesia, Cite De Arts Paris and ZKM Karlsruhe. He is the Executive Director of Rakarsa, a foundation based in Bandung that is run by artists and cultural practitioners that focus on interdisciplinary projects for urban issues, residencies and art education.
