Brian Montshiwa is an interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, and performer based in Johannesburg. Brian holds an Honours Degree in Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts with distinctions from the University of Witwatersrand. Their practice spans performance art, video art, text paintings, printmaking, installation, and drawing, known for its exploration of self-writing, fugitive praxis, and content identity poetics concerning emancipation.

Brian has garnered recognition through prestigious awards such as the Anya Millman Scholarship for Outstanding Work in Fine Arts (2022) and the Blessing Ngobeni Prize (2021). Their work has been exhibited and performed at prominent institutions including Everard Read Gallery and Wits Art Museum. Brian's artistic contributions resonate with their profound thematic exploration and their impact on societal discourse.
