Xiaoyue Pu is a visual artist and writer based in China (People’s Republic of). Her work navigates the complexities of gender and power through interdisciplinary, long-term projects. Integrating photography, video, writing, and sculpture, her practice is grounded in immersive field research.
Pu’s project "Self-Combed Women" investigates the history of a marginalised female community in feudal China, bringing to light overlooked narratives. Pu also explores the intersections of body, environment, and gender through the experimental use of food ingredients, reflecting on her identity as a Chinese woman in a global context. Her work transcends cultural and historical boundaries, interweaving the personal, social, and political to provoke dialogue around power, identity, and belonging.
