Profile

Raghad Saqfalhait is a Palestinian architect and design researcher. Her work engages with material cultures and agrarian craft ecologies in Palestine through long-term and collaborative projects. Public workshops and oral history are central to her methodology, through which local materials become sites of embodied land-based knowledge production amidst ongoing dispossession and fragmentation under settler colonialism.

In 2019, she co-founded Sakeb, a design collective working on, about, and through waste—particularly that produced by the stone and marble industry in Palestine. With Sakeb, she has co-led workshops such as Waste Siege and Material Practices of Resistance (ASCA & JVE, 2024), and presented work at de Appel (Our People are Our Mountains: Instructions for Placemaking, 2024), Sharjah Architecture Triennale (2023), and Milan Design Week (Materialized, 2022).

Her practice also extends into writing and moving image. She has published Geography of Pottery in Rural Jerusalem: From Local Clay Sources to Networks of Production and Distribution (Institute for Palestine Studies, 2022) and contributed to Cityless Country – Side, Jerusalem in an Alternative Map (Riwaq, 2023). Her video works include Between Lime and Clay (with Areej Ashhab, 2024), La Montagna è Ancora in Movimento (2023), and La Crita è Mia (2023).

Raghad is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Geo—Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
